ABB INNIS21 network interface slave module is a key component in the Cnet-to-HCU interface of the Symphony enterprise management and control system. It supports communication between the Harmony control unit (HCU) and the control network (Cnet), which is essential for connecting the Harmony control units to the distributed nodes of the system.
The INNIS21 is a direct replacement for the older INNIS11 module and is used in conjunction with the INNPM22 for enhanced functionality. The module supports a highly scalable system with over 62,000 nodes connected via Cnet, including central and satellite networks.

- Provides a plant-wide communication network.
- Supports time synchronization to ensure clock consistency throughout the control system.
- 10 MHz communication rate enables timely information exchange
- Each node can operate independently without affecting other nodes.
- The HCU interface module can handle four message types: broadcast, time synchronization, multicast, and NIS polling, and all messages include cyclic redundancy check code (CRC) and checksum
