The ABB REF601 is a microprocessor-based feeder protection relay that is designed to protect against overcurrent, earth faults, and voltage disturbances. It is a member of ABB’s Relion® product family and part of its 605 series. The relay uses Rogowski coil sensors for current measurement.

The REF601 has a number of features that make it a versatile tool for protecting feeders in a variety of applications. These features include:
- Overcurrent protection with both IEC 60255-3 and ANSI/IEEE C37.112-1999 characteristics.
- Earth fault protection with both IEC 60255-3 and ANSI/IEEE C37.112-1999 characteristics.
- Voltage disturbance protection with both IEC 60255-3 and ANSI/IEEE C37.112-1999 characteristics.
- Rogowski coil sensors for current measurement.
Two dedicated outputs for breaker control.
- Optional MODBUS RTU or IEC 60870-5-103 communication.
- Standard IDMT characteristics according to IEC 61255-3 – Normal Inverse, Very Inverse, Extremely Inverse, Long-time Inverse.
- Optional features such as arc protection, synchronism check, and recloser control.
