Product Description
The ABB RLM01 (3BDZ000398R1) is a PROFIBUS redundant link module that converts a single, non-redundant PROFIBUS network into a PROFIBUS A/B dual-line system with bidirectional redundancy. The ABB RLM01 is a bidirectional converter with the following conversion relationship: Line M ⇄ Line A/B.
Important Note: The ABB RLM01 cannot be used to implement a "master redundancy" architecture (i.e., one master station controls line A, and another backup master station controls line B). This is because even if the two masters are synchronized at the application layer, their bus communication is asynchronous.
Function & Features
- The ABB RLM01 (3BDZ000398R1) converts a single PROFIBUS line into two redundant lines (A and B) that back each other up.
- Each RLM01 module's PROFIBUS interface can connect up to 31 PROFIBUS stations and can be used in conjunction with repeaters [R] and media converters [O/E] (such as fiber optic converters).
- The ABB RLM01 (3BDZ000398R1) module has a built-in repeater function that can regenerate signals, thereby extending the bus length and increasing the number of stations that can be connected.
