Woodward 5464 - 334 is an isolated 4 - 20mA analog input module that accepts analog signals in the 4 to 20 mA range with 8 electrically isolated channels. Channel isolation ensures that the signals do not interfere with each other. It runs on a microcontroller and after initialization, the microcontroller turns off the LEDs and turns them on in the event of an I/O fault. For intelligent I/O management, the module manages rate group scheduling independently, reducing CPU dependency, and features online fault detection, automatic calibration, and compensation.

• Channel Isolation: Each input channel is isolated, ensuring that the signals do not interfere with each other, thereby improving the accuracy of the measurement.

• Microcontroller-Based Operation: The module integrates an onboard microcontroller. During initialization, once the power-on self-test is completed, the microcontroller deactivates the LED. If an I/O fault occurs, the LED illuminates to indicate the problem.

• Intelligent I/O Management: The I/O module manages its rate group scheduling independently, reducing CPU involvement. It features online fault detection, automatic calibration, and compensation.

• Voltage Reference and Fault Detection: Each input channel has a precision voltage reference. The microcontroller reads this reference once a minute during idle time. If the reading deviates from a predefined threshold, the system identifies a fault in the channel or its components (A/D converter or voltage reference) and signals a fault to take corrective action.
