The CI840 Fieldbus Communication Interface (FCI) module is a configurable communication interface that performs operations such as signal processing, collection of various monitoring information, OSP processing, hot configuration on the fly, HART pass-through, and I/O module configuration. The CI840 is designed for redundant applications. The FCI connects to the controller via the PROFIBUS-DPV1 fieldbus. The module terminal units to be used are the TU846 with redundant I/O and the TU847 with non-redundant I/O.
