Product Description

Allen-Bradley MVI56E-MCM is a Modbus communication module for ControlLogix system, supporting Modbus Master/Slave mode. The module supports configuration as Modbus master station (Master), can actively initiate communication requests and interact with slave station (Slave) devices. MVI56E-MCM defines the device address, function code and data storage location in the MASTERCOMMAND tag.

Allen-Bradley MVI56E-MCM Modbus Communication Module

Function & Features

  • MODDEF tag: used to set the backplane communication parameters between the module and the ControlLogix processor, including data register addresses (ReadData and WriteData), and supports up to 10,000 data registers.
  • PORT1/PORT2 tag: configure the communication parameters of the serial port (such as baud rate, data bits, stop bits), and specify the port as Modbus master or slave mode.
  • PORT1MASTERCOMMAND/PORT2MASTERCOMMAND tag: defines the polling table (command list) of the master, including the slave device address, data type (specified by Modbus function code), data read and write operations, and the storage location of the module's internal registers.
