Woodward 9905-864 Digital Control for Steam Turbines is a microprocessor-based digital controller that drives single-valve or single-valve train steam turbines for equipment such as pumps, fans, compressors, and generators.

It is responsible for safe steam turbine startup, speed control, and operation, operating from a single hardware platform requiring only on-site software configuration.

Start Modes

Manual Start Mode: The operator manually controls the trip throttle valve. After rising from 0 RPM to the minimum governor speed, the controller takes over automatically.

Auto Start Mode: Controls steam admission via the actuator/valve, configurable to rise from 0 to idle speed or minimum governor speed. When at idle speed, it can switch to the minimum governor speed via an input signal.

Start Trigger Methods: Button, discrete input, or Modbus command (all alarms and trips must be cleared and reset).

Operating Modes (Speed Setting)

Manual Control Mode: Adjust the local speed setpoint via front - panel buttons, discrete inputs, or Modbus commands. The actual speed setpoint is equal to the local setpoint.

Remote Control Mode: Adjust between the minimum and maximum governor speeds via 1-5 Vdc signals (from pressure transducers, PLCs, etc.). The local setpoint tracks the remote setpoint.

Combination Mode: Combines the characteristics of manual and remote control.

Monitoring in All Modes: The actual speed setpoint in all modes can be monitored in the "SPEED VALUES" menu.
