Product Description

The DIS880 is a digital input 24V signal conditioning module for high integrity applications supporting 2/3/4-wire devices with Sequence of Events (SOE).The DIS880 supports both Normally Open (NO) and Normally Closed (NC) 24 V loops and is SIL3 compliant.

Single Loop Granularity - Each SCM handles a single channel Supports hot swap Mechanical locking slider to shut off field device power prior to removal and/or output field disconnect feature to electrically separate field loop wiring from the SCM during commissioning and maintenance.

Select I/O is an Ethernet-networked, single-channel, fine-grained I/O system for the ABB Ability™ System 800xA automation platform.Select I/O helps decouple project tasks, minimize the impact of late changes, and supports standardization of I/O cabinets, ensuring automation projects are delivered on time and within budget. The Signal Conditioning Module (SCM) performs the signal conditioning and power supply required for one I/O channel to the connected field device.

Detailed Data

Supported Field Devices 2-, 3-, and 4-wire sensors (dry contacts and proximity switches, 4-wire devices require external power)

Frequently asked questions about the product are as follows:

-What is ABB DIS880?

ABB DIS880 is part of ABB's distributed control system (DCS)

-What are the main functions of DIS880?

It supports various I/O modules, communication protocols, and integration with other systems. It supports advanced process control and optimization strategies to improve operational efficiency. It integrates with the operator station for intuitive monitoring and control.

-What are the typical components of a DIS880 system?

The controller is the brain of the system, handling control algorithms and I/O management. I/O modules can interact with these modules with sensors and actuators to collect and send data. The operator station provides a human-machine interface (HMI) for real-time monitoring and control. The communication network connects all components and supports Ethernet, Modbus, Profibus. Engineering tools are software tools used to configure, program, and maintain the DCS.
