Product Description
ABB TU811V1 is an 8-channel, 250V compact module terminal unit (MTU) for S800 I/O. The MTU is a passive unit that is primarily used to connect field wiring to the I/O modules, and it also contains part of the ModuleBus. The MTU distributes the ModuleBus to the I/O modules and the next MTU, and generates the correct address for the I/O modules by transmitting the output position signal to the next MTU. The MTU can be configured for different types of I/O modules using two mechanical keys. This is only a mechanical configuration and does not affect the functionality of the MTU or I/O modules. Each key has six positions, resulting in a total of 36 different configurations.

Passive Interface Unit: The TU811V1 unit itself requires no power and is a passive device. It provides bus connectivity for active S800 I/O modules (such as AI, AO, DI, and DO modules).
ModuleBus Distribution Hub: The TU811V1 is a component of the ModuleBus (the internal communication bus for the S800 I/O). It distributes the ModuleBus to the I/O modules it carries and passes it on to the next MTU, forming a bus chain.
Mechanical Keying: The TU811V1 is configured using two mechanical keys, each with six positions, for a total of 36 possible configurations. This prevents the incorrect type of I/O module from being inserted into the wrong MTU.
