The Allen-Bradley 1756-RM2 ControlLogix Redundancy Enhancement Module is part of the ControlLogix platform. It is typically paired with another 1756-RM2 module. The system consists of two synchronized ControlLogix chassis, each equipped with the same components (such as redundancy modules, ControlNet or EtherNet/IP communication modules).

The 1756-RM2 can also access remote I/O modules and 1715 redundant I/O systems over an EtherNet/IP network, supporting the 1756-EN2T slot.

Function & Features

  • Communication speed: When two 1756-RM2 modules are used together, the redundant module speed can reach 1000 Mbps, compared to 100 Mbps between 1756-RM/A or 1756-RM/B modules.
  • Fiber connection: The 1756-RM2 has redundant fiber ports for cross-loading, eliminating the risk of single-point failure of fiber cables. The fiber connection distance between modules can be up to 10 kilometers, using LC-type connectors and 8.5/125 micron single-mode fiber cable.
  • Configuration and commissioning: The 1756-RM2 supports plug-and-play commissioning and configuration without extensive programming. In the controller properties dialog box of RSLogix 5000 software, you can configure redundant controllers by checking a check box.
