ICS Triplex T8891 Speed Monitor Output FTA

The ICS Triplex T8891 Speed Monitor Output FTA (SOFTA) is a speed monitor output field terminal assembly. As part of the Trusted T8442 Triple Modular Redundant (TMR) speed monitoring system, it provides an output field interface for a rotating machine.

It provides normally open and normally closed voltage-free contacts via field terminals, available in both energized-to-trip and de-energized-to-trip configurations. Its two relay output channels feature quadruple redundancy, ensuring that a single relay or contact failure does not affect the ability to control the load.

Load current feedback is provided to the T8442 speed monitor for each switching path of each channel. The device utilizes a force-guided contact safety relay that detects welding or sticking of the output contacts. The relays, fuses, and current sensors are all replaceable in situ.

Function & Features

• Each output contact of the T8891 can be used as either a normally open or normally closed contact.

• The T8891 supports both energized to trip and de-energized to trip configurations, with safety logic selectable via normally open (NO) or normally closed (NC) voltage-free contacts.

• The T8891 features a built-in force-guided contact safety relay (compliant with IEC 61810-3) that can detect contact welding or stuck faults.

• The T8891 provides load current feedback for each switching path, enabling the T8442 speed monitor to monitor load conditions.
